She possesses a deep knowledge of the Pilates method, and is able to adapt the exercises to suit different abilities, always ensuring a safe and effective workout for all. Ris has outstanding communication skills and constantly explains us how our body works and which muscles are involved in each exercise, emphasizing the importance of neutral spine and proper alignment throughout the workout. With her guidance, my muscles are building gracefully, my posture has improved, my knees and my back feel better. I highly suggest her guidance and expertise if you want to cultivate and maintain a healthy body.

I came to Pilates Now with a number of issues – low back pain, sciatica and poor posture – all the result of an elderly crumbling spine (I’m 78). Over six months I’ve had a number of 1 to 1 sessions, mainly with Ris, and all those problems have improved markedly. Ris is unfailingly patient and has been great both at working specifically on problem areas and at attempting to improve my general strength and wellbeing. She’s also fun. I’m not a natural at the exercises, but with her encouragement and support somehow manage to achieve what she’s asking – and I find things are slowly getting easier. I would say that if you need expert individual help and attention you couldn’t do better than try Pilates Now.

I was looking for some post partum pilates to help with my recovery and thankfully found Ris Who offered a very tailored, calm and functional means of pilates rather than the mainstream pilates. I love that these session have a maximum of 4-5 people which means even in group classes you still get the attention from the instructors whereas the other classes you get lost with the crowd. I initially started with one to one classes and went onto the group. Each step I was made sure that the exercises targeted post partum recovery. I always get self conscious in big classes especially in a gym setting (which for those who hate the whole gym vibe, this is perfect) so the small intimate setting made comfortable for me to thrive but have that small social interaction.
I highly recommend those looking for a calm, holistic Pilates group to aid with their post partum recovery (and general fitness) to give it a go. Ris and Tish have helped me a lot with their functional and calm approach to exercise.

I’ve been attending these Pilates classes for about three months now, and it’s been a really positive experience. From the very first one-to-one consultation, I felt that there was a genuine interest in understanding my goals and health background, which helped set a strong and personalised foundation.
I started with a set of one-to-one sessions, which were a great way to ease into the practice and get to grips with the basics before joining the essential group classes. The classes themselves are small, which means you get enough attention and guidance — something that’s often missing in more mass-produced classes.
Most of my classes have been with Ris, who has a calm and attentive teaching style. She’s responsive to how people are feeling each day and adapts the class accordingly. I’ve been dealing with chronic plantar fasciitis, and I’ve really appreciated how she offers modifications so I can still take part comfortably. She has a good instinct for knowing when to encourage and when to ease off.
What’s been really lovely is that for the first time in ages, I’m actually enjoying exercise. It’s always been something I’ve done because I should — but now I genuinely look forward to it. Thank you Ris and team!

Pilates Now is an outstanding studio that I couldn’t recommend more highly. Utilizing a full range of Pilates Stott equipment, the classes are taught by impressively knowledgeable and personable experts who provide individualized instructions, tailored to your needs, within small groups (maximum of 4 per class). It's fun and varied in every class. There are plenty of classes to choose from at all levels of ability, making it accessible for everyone. I have experienced transformations in my whole body strength, flexibility, control, and understanding, and I am sure the classes have protected me from aging injuries. Anyone with easy access to Gunnersbury tube station is incredibly lucky to have this exceptional studio available. Go for it!

Ris's (online) classes (I'm currently abroad) have made me much more aware of the mechanics of my body. I've known for years that my posture was bad because of my subconscious allowances for being 2 metres tall. Then 3 years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's, which ... obviously doesn't help! I started Pilates soon after diagnosis.
Ris's constant reminders during the sessions - "Notice the way that feels in your ankles", "Focus on how still you are keeping your back", "This should be working the muscles around your ribs" - makes it impossible to simply go through the motions, impossible to fall back into bad habits.
Obviously, it's not stopping Parkinson's: nothing can ... yet! But it has made me much more aware of it. Knowing your enemy is essential in any battle, and, I'm sure, Pilates has improved my balance and ease when walking. I would recommend Pilates in general, and Ris in particular, to anyone & everyone.

She has been very supportive during my pregnancy ( antennal Pilates) and knowing all challenges and pains I went through, was able to put together excercise regime to work out not only the weakened muscles but as well address all pains as they show up on weekly basis.
